City of Burlington Announces Universal Design Policy for Playgrounds

On September 9, 2025, the City of Burlington Parks and Recreation Commission approved the Universal Design for Playgrounds policy. This policy guarantees that playgrounds in all of the city's municipal parks adhere to the seven principles of Universal Design, promoting inclusivity for individuals of all abilities. The Burlington Department of Parks, Recreation, and Waterfront (supported by donations gathered by the Parks Foundation of Burlington) will be responsible for ensuring that all future playground designs align with these principles.
